Hi, hello, kumusta, hey,

My name is Anne Branigin. I'm a Style reporter at the Washington Post.

I grew up in Mexico, the Philippines, and Virginia before getting my BFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I taught English in Vietnam and Colombia for several years before returning the U.S., where I received my MS in Journalism from the University of Southern California. I’ve written articles for The Root, Teen Vogue, Southern Cultures and others.

Aside from being a teacher and writer, I’ve also been a retail worker, an airport student “ambassador” (which meant, in this case, helping to manage stupid-long security lines and take baggage off of international flights), a restaurant server, a cocktail waitress, a barista, a nonprofit worker and an executive assistant.

Now, I live in Virginia with my husband. I have too many plants and no dogs, but would love to pet yours (your dog, not your plants).

You can find my latest work here.
