Hi, hello, kumusta, hey,

My name is Anne Branigin. I'm a staff writer at The Root, where I write blogs, criticism, analysis and feature pieces covering pop culture, politics, social justice, and everything in between. My work has also appeared in Teen Vogue, Jezebel, Quartz, Splinter News, Fusion, and O Globo, where I contributed to their coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

I grew up in Mexico, the Philippines, and Virginia before getting my BFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I taught English in Vietnam and Colombia for several years before returning the U.S., where I received my MS in Journalism from the University of Southern California. There, I wrote and produced a wide variety of audio, video, and text stories, and learned how to design and build apps for phones and the web. I also hosted the Annenberg Media Center's live 30 minute radio show, From Where We Are.

Now, I live in Harlem. I have no dogs, but would love to pet yours.

Drop me a line sometime.
